Tatsis Goumenissa 2014

(90)

Nice effort from the Tatsis brothers in Goumenissa producing a solid wine from a tough vintage. Ripe, warm river-like, polished with a medium-long finish produced in 15,000 bottles. Youthful but already approachable in a way. Decanting suggested.

Retasted Aug 2019 (GM) - 89+

This is a typical blend of Xinomavro and Negoska in equal parts bearing a medium ruby color with brownish hints. The nose is layered and complex, possessing aromas of red and dried fruits, dark flowers and an earthy vegetal element, leathery notes and herbal nuances. A bit rustic but very intriguing and unique. The wine is dry and medium bodied, with solid acidity and manageable, savory tannins, even if quite young. A bit greener than expected on the palate, it has a fairly long, peppery finish. It will further improve over the next years. (GM)
