One of the most exquisite varieties of Greece coming from Central Greece but now planted all over the country. Evangelos Gerovassiliou is the man who is unanimously considered as the ''father'' of the variety. Textbook aromas include flowers and herbs in cooler mesoclimates followed by a rich and round palate with moderate levels of acidity. Up to 13.2% abv the citrus fruit expression is dominant but when alcohol goes above 13.5% terpenes oxidise and aromas lean more to the Muscat character which means that the variety loses its typicity. Many styles exist including muscaty -lightly floral and stone fruit - on the lees – herbal – fruity and mineral.
